CNA Classes | Certified Nursing Assistant

CNA Classes will produce a CNA, or a  Certified Nursing Assistant often called a nursing aide who has undergone a training program and successfully earned a certificate. Upon completing this program, a CNA is placed on the state's registry of CNAs.  As a CNA, you have the opportunity to be on the front line of patient care.  While a CNA is one of the most vital to daily operations in a nursing home and/or hospital it may not be the most glorified job title.  The compassion and skills in patient care that come from CNA's will help minimize the stress of those who are sick or unable to care for themselves.  The family member that have to make the difficult decision to place their loved one in a nursing home are also put at ease from the CNA's constant reassurance.

CNAs have many different names depending on where you live.  In the United States a CNA can also be called nurses' aides, orderlies, patient care technicians, State Tested Nurse Aid, Patient Care Assistant, Nursing Assistant-Registered, and home health aides.  In the UK and other countries a CNA might also be called Nursing Assistant, Auxiliary Nurse, Patient Care Associate, Nursing Tech, Healthcare Assistant, Healthcare Support Worker or Clinical Support Worker.  No matter where you live and what you are called they all work under the supervision of a registered nurse to provide assistance to patients with their daily living tasks.  Regardless of their title or initials the role is the same.  The CNA often holds a high level of experience and ability and is an important member of the health care team.

A CNA also needs to be state certified, without those qualifications they would not legally be able to perform some tasks due.  As a result of the North American "CAN”, attempts have been made in some places to regulate, control and verify education, a credential gained by registering completion of the statuary level of workplace experience and academic achievement with a central body.  This allows an employer to verify experience and knowledge as well as to assist in preventing individuals who have had their license revoked from continuing to work in healthcare roles.  In the UK, required registration with the General Social Cart Council is intended to strength the credibility of the Health Care Assistant or other social care workers.  There are Scottish and Welsh equivalents.
