Are you looking for an exciting opportunity for a new career? Consider the option to become a CNA  in Virginia. Not only is this a rewarding career but it is one that can give you so many opportunities that you may never have even dreamed of. So many people never pursue their dream career in the medical field simply because they are afraid they cannot afford it or they do not think they will have the time to finish the education. Getting your CNA certification  through CNA classes in Virginia is much different than getting any other medical job.

How is getting CNA certification in Virginia so different? Unlike other careers in the field, you do not have to spend years in classes and training. Instead, all that you will need to do is start with a GED. Then, you will need to take training courses that should last no more than 10-12 weeks. That means in less than four months, you will be done with your CNA classes! The best part is that CNA programs only cost about $1,000 in the state of Virginia. Can you imagine getting started on your new career this year? It is a dream that can happen!

Choosing CNA Classes in Virginia

Before you can move forward with your new career choice as a certified nursing assistant, you will need to attend the right amount of CNA classes. In Virginia, those classes will include a total of 75 hours of CNA training. This training will be broken up into two categories: specific CNA classes and clinicals. It is important that you not only take all of these training programs but you must pass them to get your CNA certification.

You have numerous different options for your CNA classes in Virginia. You may find a number of training programs that you can pay for, but you will find choices with lower tuitions as well. Here are some of the popular options that you could choose to become a certified nursing assistant in Virginia.

  • Nursing homes and assisted living facilities that will help you with your CNA training as long as you work for them.
  • Nurse aide training programs that allow you to get started right after high school.
  • State approved CNA programs. You can find a list of them here. You will need to ensure that you only choose training programs that are state approved or they will not count toward your CNA certification.

Taking the Virginia CNA Exam

After you have finished all of your CNA classes and training, you will need to take the Virginia nurse aide exam to become licensed. This exam is a two part test that will determine if you have the written knowledge and real life skill in order to become a certified nursing assistant. If you are concerned about taking this test, then do not worry. The state of Virginia provides you with helpful tools to prepare for it. You can find the registration information to schedule the exam here or here and you can get helpful practice tests here.

You have a total of three chances to pass the exam in the state of Virginia. If you do not pass on your first try, you can take the exam again as soon as you would like. If you do not pass on the third try, you will be required to go through all 75 hours of CNA classes and training again before you can take the exam again.

Virginia CNA Certification and Registration

After passing the CNA exam, your last step would be to get your name on the certified nurse aide registry in Virginia. There are a few things you need to keep in mind about this registry.

  • You must be on the nurse aide registry to become employed as a CNA in Virginia.
  • You must renew the registry every two years to keep your CNA certification.
  • You must have worked at least 8 hours in a two year period to renew your registration.
  • You must report any changes of address immediately to the registry.

Are you ready to embark on an exciting new career? All that you need to do is get started with your CNA certification to become a successful certified nursing assistant in Virginia.
