If you are looking for an exciting dream career in the medical field, then look no further than becoming a certified nursing assistant. In North Carolina, the career is called certified nursing aide and it can be a very exciting and rewarding choice for your career in the medical field. There are so many advantages to choosing a career as a CNA. Completing CNA classes in North Carolina is not that hard of a process and it does not cost that much either. Here are a few of the things to consider in order to get your CNA certification in the state of North Carolina.

To start with, you will need to choose CNA classes so that you can get the training that you will need. Since the state of North Carolina requires 75 hours of classes, you can expect to spend about 8-10 weeks in one of the available CNA programs. That school work should cost no more than $900 either. This combination of quick work and affordability certainly makes CNA certification quite appealing.

Just how do you become a certified nursing assistant in North Carolina?

Beginning the CNA Certification Process

To begin with, when you want to get CNA certification, it all starts at the school. You will have a number of different schools and programs to choose from when choosing CNA classes in North Carolina. You will need to choose carefully though. Different CNA programs may be more expensive in tuition. Some of the schools may not be accredited. You would want to avoid this. Only choose CNA programs that have the proper accreditation. Just how do you find the right CNA training provider? You can find colleges that are certified and approved by the state of North Carolina here.

When you attend the school, you can expect two different types of CNA training. The first type of training will consist of classes. These CNA classes will involve a great deal of study and bookwork. The second type of courses will actually be clinicals. That would refer to hands on training that you will need to take part in and pass.

CNA Certification Testing in North Carolina

The next thing you will need to do, after you have passed your CNA classes, you will need to take the North Carolina Nurse Aide competency exam. You have three chances to pass this exam before you would need to attend further CNA training. The exam will include two different sections just as the CNA classes will have. These two sections will include a written exam and a clinical exam. You can find out how to register for the CNA exam by clicking here.

The CNA Certification Registry

After you have passed the exam, your next step will be to put your name on the North Carolina CNA registry. This registry will list you as a professional CNA in the state. In order to become listed on the registry, you will need to provide proof of your license to be a CNA and you will need to fill out an application to be listed. You can find the application here.

You will be listed for two years and after two years, you will need to renew your registry listing to do this, you will simply need to prove the following:

  • You have been working for pay
  • You have performed the duties required by a certified nurse aide
  • You will need to have worked at least eight hours in the two year period.

If you have changed your address, it is important that you update your listing at the registry. You will simply need to provide an address change form that can be found here.

Gaining your CNA certification is not that hard at all in the state of North Carolina. You simply need to finish your classes and training. Then, you will need to pass the competency exam and get your named registered. After that, you can get started with your dream job as a certified nursing assistant in North Carolina!
