Interested in becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant? There are a number of CNA classes in Alaska that can help you get the training that you need, but very little in the way of guidance in order to get you there.

Working as a CNA means that you are required to have the appropriate credentials and programs in order to be able to work with patients. This is understandable considering the fact that healthcare deals primarily with those who are aging, infirm, or otherwise ill. The vulnerable sector requires competent care and impeccable bedside manner, which is achieved by attending CNA training programs found in Alaska.

It used to be that everyone wanted to work for a large corporation, preferably as a member of management. Upper level executive staff positions are projected to increase only by a marginal amount over the next 10 years and in some cases negative growth is projected by 2018.

However, nursing is anticipated to grow in demand by 20% over the course of the next six years, with 1039 job openings available in order to replace outgoing and retiring members of the medical community. For a qualified CNA and licensed practical nurse, the demand is much of the same, showing a 21% increase in demand right through 2018.

CNA Programs And CNA Classes Requirements

CNA training is done through state-approved facilities only. There are numerous such facilities offering CNA classes in Alaska. These programs may have slightly different entry requirements, but for the most part are similar. The registry has a list of these facilities, which you can access by clicking here.

If you’re looking for information on when the CNA training date closes, for the Entrance Exam Applications, you can find them in the public notices section of the State of Alaska’s Online Public Notice website, here .

How Do I Become Licensed?

Before you can become a licensed CNA, you will need to pass the examination. You apply to take the examination through the Nurse Aide Registry in Alaska, but before you can do that there are a few prerequisites, of which you must meet only one:

  • You must have completed your state-approved CNA training classes, two years immediately prior to the date of your application.
  • You must possess a clean license from another state in the US or in Canada, whether it is expired or current.
  • 5 years before the application date you must have completed a year or more of classroom and clinical nursing from a school approved by a state in the US or a province in Canada.
  • If you completed your CNA training in a country other than Canada or the US, you must submit original documents, with translations as required.

How Do I Apply For My CNA License?

There is a wealth of information available online for those who wish to apply for CNA Classes, but a great tool is available through the State of Alaska’s Nurse Aide Registry. You can access the New Licensee Information here . The fee associated with your application consists of a few fees including:

  •  An application fee of $50, which is non-refundable
  • A certification fee of $120 dollars
  • A fingerprint processing fee of $59
  • An examination fee of $50

If you’re interested in additional information about licensing requirements and fees, you can visit the registry online here .

How Do I Maintain My License?

You will need to renew your license before March 31st of the current year.

Working as a CNA can be a great career path that can open many other doors for you not only in healthcare, but in other related fields as well like sports medicine, physiotherapy and massage therapy to name a few. Get in touch with a state-approved facility today, to start your required classes today. This will help to put you on your way to a bright future in healthcare. The time has never been better and the reward, never sweeter.
